Presentation

The Faculty of Automation and Computer Science is a public higher education institution, having a teaching and research mission in the fields of "Computers and Information Technology" and "Systems Engineering". The "Automation" and "Computers" majors were established as distinct majors of the "Computer Science and Systems" domain at the Faculty of Electrotechnics on the 4th of July 1977.

The Faculty of Automation and Computer Science was founded in the year 1990, when the former Faculty of Electrotechnics was divided into three faculties: The Faculty of Automation and Computer Science, The Faculty of Electrotechnics, The Faculty of Electronic Engineering and Telecommunications.

Since 1990, the Faculty of Automation and Computer Science has been authorized to operate with the two specializations: "Automation and Industrial Informatics" and "Computer Science." Starting with the year 1995, the "Automation and Industrial Informatics" (in English), "Computer Science" (in English) and "Computing Equipment" (college) specializations have been added. These were temporarily authorized according to GD 568/1995, published in The Official Gazette of Romania on 16.08.1995 and definitively certified according to GD 442/1998, published in The Official Gazette of Romania on 10.08.1998.

Since the year 2005, at the same time with the restructuring of the higher education organization under the Bologna Convention, educational and research activities have been conducted in the "Computer Science and Information Technology" and "Systems Engineering" fields on three levels: undergraduate, master and doctoral studies.
